This exciting, enlightening, cultural event comes around only once a year, and luckily for all of us, it’s nearing that time again. Art Basel brings together artists, enthusiasts, critics and the like every December, and it’ll be back to take over Miami Beach just next month! From December 6th to December 9th, leading galleries and individual artists will show work from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa!
The esteemed show will be open to the public with varying hours from Thursday to Sunday. It’s held at the Miami Beach Convention Center, near our affordable Miami Beach hotel, and specially priced tickets are available for students and seniors. One-day tickets are $50 online and $60 on site.
If you want to go all in for the renowned event, you can select the 4-day premium pass, which costs $450 online and $500 on site. The premium pass comes with a Year 48 commemorative book and bag, priority tour bookings, free access to museums and even priority seating at the seated show restaurant.
Here’s a quick rundown of this year’s featured galleries:
Nova: Nova is designed to show works created within the last three years. It shows fresh, never-before-seen pieces of art directly from the artist’s own studio.
Positions: Positions is designed for up and coming artists and emerging talent. Artists present their most major project for curators, collectors and critics to see.
Editions: Editions allows for publishers to show editioned work of rare and significant pieces that have been published over time.
Kabinett: Kabinett is designed to be the dealer’s choice. Galleries can present a specially curated exhibition from an artist solely of their choice – whether they’re a rising star or a well-celebrated artist.
Survey: Survey is designed to show precise art historical projects. The work here will represent a range of cultures, generations and styles.
Conversations: Conversations is designed for cross collaboration and engagement. There will be a series of panels and conversations on topics that permeate the global contemporary art scene. There will be a range of speakers and professionals on site like curators, collectors, art lawyers, and of course, artists themselves.
Whether you’ve been studying and collecting art for years or are a novice learning what you like, Art Basel will have something for you to enjoy.
Explore Miami, explore your creative intuitions and enjoy some really, really good art.
