The American Black Film Festival is dedicated to highlighting the best, the brightest and the most promising content for and by African Americans. It’s been celebrating people of color in the entertainment industry since 1997, and it’ll be back on Miami Beach from June 13th to the 17th. Whether you work in the biz, are aspiring to or simply love all things film and TV, this festival is for you.

The festival will feature 5 jam-packed days of events, panels, screenings, networking opportunities and more! Here’s a bit of what you can look forward to:


Wednesday, June 13th

Opening Night Film at the Fillmore Theater, 7:30pm

Opening Night Party, 10:30pm


Thursday, June 14th

Master Class: Becoming a Showrunner at the Betsy Hotel, 8am

NBC Universal Panel at the Loews, 11am

Screening: “Down For Whatever” at the Colony Theater, 2:30pm


Friday, June 15th

Master Class: Film Financing at the Betsy Hotel, 8am

Business of Entertainment Seminar at the Betsy Hotel, 12:30pm

ABFF “Comedy Wings” Competition at the New World Center, 9:30pm


Saturday, June 16th

Master Class: Nailing Your Audition at the Betsy Hotel, 8am

Spotlight Screening: “Claws” at the Colony Theater, 2pm

Business of Entertainment Seminar: Directing While Black at the Betsy Hotel, 4:45pm

Closing Night Party at the Betsy Hotel, 10:30pm


Sunday, June 17th

ABFF Community Day at the Lyric Theater, 11am

ABFF partners with the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau to provide film and shows for the local community to enjoy!


There will be dozens of Hollywood heavy hitters in the city, and that’s just some of what you can expect! This year’s festival, like always, will be inspirational, celebratory and representative of the best in the industry.
