AIDS Walk Miami is the biggest HIV/AIDS fundraising event in South Florida, and this year marks their very special 30th anniversary. For three decades, people have been participating in the 5K walk-a-thon in support of HIV and AIDS awareness, and this year’s monetary goal is $200,000.
This year’s Grand Marshal is Jorge Bernal who’s working to implement a new normal: “Getting to Zero” – this means zero new infection cases, zero deaths and zero stigma surrounding the disease.
The 5K is Sunday, April 22nd, at Soundscape Park, which is near our Miami Beach hotel. Rain or shine, the walk will start at 9am and will be followed by a post-walk celebration. There will be live music, vendors, games, and even complimentary massages from Educating Hands School of Massage!
Registration for the event is $25 for general participants, and if you raise at least $50, you’ll get a commemorative AIDS Walk Miami tee. You can also participate in the Matching Gift Program where your employer can match your donation dollar for dollar.
All of the proceeds from the 5K benefit Care Resource and Food For Life Network food bank. Both organizations work to support people affected by HIV/AIDS and provide information, resources, meals and more to those in need.
If you’re looking to do something different, something special and something extraordinary, South Florida, this is it.
