Miami Beach Gay Pride is important for several reasons, but the mission of the festival is to join together the LGBT community along with friends, family members, allies and supporters of the cause. Miami Beach Gay Pride does just that and has been doing that since its 2009 start.
What started humbly has now become a massive event with hundreds of thousands of people taking over Miami Beach including celebrity supporters like Mario Lopez, Jordin Sparks and Adam Lambert. This year, the festival will be a week long from April 2nd to the 8th, and there are several exciting events planned for each day.
The kick off will be Monday, April 2nd with a rainbow flag raising ceremony at City Hall followed by Pride Lights the Night, which will feature several illuminated buildings throughout the city. On Friday, April 4th, there will be a Pride VIP Gala with entertainment, food and drinks, and the founders of Pride will be honored. Tickets for this exclusive event are $125 at the door.
The annual Pride Parade and Festival will be on the final day, Sunday, April 8th, and it will last from Noon to 10pm. The finale event will feature performers, vendors, floats, and a final fireworks display to celebrate LGBT culture.
