For those of you who’ve been wanting to explore the richness (and tastiness) of Haiti but can’t exactly hop on a plane to visit, we have quite the event for you! Behold: The Taste of Haiti right here in South Florida. The event will be May 13th at Miami Dade College North Campus.
Taste of Haiti is actually in its 5th year and is completely free for the whole family. The festival draws in thousands of guests each year and for reasons beyond food tastings. The festival strives to connect people with the culture, the history and the many influences of the country overall. There will be music, art and entertainment all in celebration of Haiti, so come for more than just the food.
…But speaking of, there will obviously be an abundance of delicious dishes available. Guests can expect to sample several Haitian staples along with Haitian rum, beer, soda and homemade juices.
For the daring, there will also be a chef cook off to participate in. Chefs will have 30 minutes to create their perfect dish to be judged. The catch? They’ll be creating from a secret ingredient basket, and every ingredient must be used! Think you’ve got the skills required to think on your toes and present a quality dish? Register for the competition! If you’d rather watch from afar and let the professionals do what they do best, that’s perfectly fine too! The Taste of Haiti caters to every type of guest.
Coming into town for the event and not sure where to stay in Miami? The Fairfield Inn & Suites Miami Airport is a solid choice. The hotel is near the airport and will even transport you to and from for completely free. We’re also close to the best attractions in Miami and just a quick drive from the Taste of Haiti venue.
Get ready to immerse yourself in the culture, food and music of Haiti.
