Lead singer Florence Welch and the band has shown their evolution over time since they first came to fame in 2007. At the time the British band was in the shadow of the wild success of Amy Winehouse and they were later followed by that of Adele. But having big shoes to fill didn’t stunt their growth.
Welch, Isabella Summers with the collaboration of several other artists found their sound by mixing the high energy of rock with a bit of soul. They became known for mixing genres along with Welch’s powerhouse vocals and their eccentric production both on their albums and their concerts.
Their 2016 tour comes after their third studio album, How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful released last year. With this album, the group debuted at the top of the Billboard Top 200 for the first time in their careers. The album also topped the charts in the UK and many other countries world wide.
Florence and the Machine has been nominated for eight Grammy awards since their 2007 debut. Their first album, Lungs, won the Best British Album award at the Brit Awards in 2010.
Those heading into town for a little indie rock meets neo soul absolutely must book a hotel near the American Airlines Arena. Our best recommendation is the trendy boutique Hotel Urbano in Brickell.
With bustling city views and art commissioned by local artists, you will be sure to get an experience you can’t find anywhere else that will last long after Florence Welch has put down her microphone.
